A Guide To Natural Skin Care Products

Some people pin their aspirations for good-looking skin on natural skin care products, because they are concerned about what synthetic commercial cosmetic products will do to their skin. There are more safeguards for the public now than ever before with government regulations and public watchdogs, however, there are still a number of products coming on to the market every year that are harmful to skin.

Therefore, you cannot depend on the hype, the label on the front or anyone else – it is all down to you to do your own investigation. You can do this exploration by checking each of the chemicals on the label on the rear of the pot by looking them up on the Internet.

In deed the predicament has gotten so bad hat the National Institute of Occupational Safety And Health found nearly nine hundred toxic chemicals in commercial cosmetic products and the Cancer Coalition declared that commercial cosmetic and personal care products present a higher threat of cancer than nicotine and cigarettes.

If you use these toxic substances on your skin, there is a good chance that they will be absorbed into your body, where they will be circulated through all your major bodily organs. Nobody knows precisely what consequences this can have on your long term health.

Once the toxins are in your bloodstream, your body will have to work much harder than normal in an effort to get rid of them. Most of this clean up work falls to the liver, but it can only do so much before health problems set in. The liver is a crucial part of the body’s immune system and should be looked after, because liver problems can result in major health issues with the auto-immune system, which in turn can result in asthma, infections, and allergies.

Therefore, it would seem that if you want to avoid any potential problems, you would be better off using only natural skin care products. However, you cannot rest on your laurels just because the tub carries the word ‘natural’ or ‘organic’. Once more, it is your duty to research the ingredients of the natural skin care products that you buy or you could make your own.

Making your own natural skin care products is not as hard as it may at first seem. There are thousands of skin care recipes on the Internet and in the library, but here are a few ideas to get you started.

You can exfoliate with olive oil mixed with crushed oatmeal, brown sugar or baking soda. Exfoliating three or four times per week will keep your skin looking great. Other items that you can use in your home mixes are: olive oil, bananas, avocado, honey and egg whites.

Making your own natural skin care products is the only, I stress, the only, way to ensure that you are getting 100% natural skin care products, because even those that say on the label that they are 100% natural skin care products will probably contain synthetic, chemical preservatives, dyes and fragrances.

Razor Scooter Series

The Razor kick scooter is the present-day equivalent of the variety of scooter that has been about for 50 years or more. In actuality, kids have almost certainly been attaching boards to wheels ever since scrap wheels became available. As with those classic scooters, the Razor kick scooter is driven forward by foot power. That is, you put one foot on the board and push forward, or in other words kick back on the ground with the other.

This method of movement makes this kick scooter an idyllic style of transport, exercise and pleasure for kids of all ages. In deed, Razor do not recommend a Razor scooter for the under fives unless supervised by an adult and maintain in their handbook:

“Children under age eight (8) should ride with adult supervision at all times. All children and preteens should ride with adult guidance at all times”.

This seems pretty strict to me and is almost certainly an instance of over-caution because of the litigious culture we live in. Just try suggesting to a twelve-year that you have to use supervision on all of his or her trips!

Having said that the Razor kick scooter comes in approximately seven different guises. There is the Kiddie Kick scooter for the under fives. It is constructed of tough plastic and has a third wheel for greater stability.

Then there is the ‘A’ series of Razor scooters: the A, A2, A3 and AW. These models are more or less equal to a child’s increase in size, ability and experience, although the highest suggested weight for all three models of Razor scooter is 65 kilos or 143 lbs.

The Razor kick scooter Pro is a leap up in technology and so has more facilities. It can be used for extreme sport and will put up with a rider weighing up to 100 kilos or 220 lbs.

Last, but not least, is the Cruiser Razor scooter. It will carry 79 kilos (175 lbs of weight and has larger wheels as it is intended for laid-back cruising about. The bigger wheels mean that you won’t be conscious of any rough ground beneath you while you are on this Razor scooter.

All of these Razor scooters share comparable characteristics. All of these models of the Razor kick scooter are of very tough manufacture and all but the Razor Kiddie Kick scooter are made of high-grade aluminium and are built to last.

These Razor scooters have extensible steering rods, which means that they can be pulled up to grow with your child or can be used by kids of different sizes. They also share a tough braking system which operates on the rear wheel, rendering them ultra-safe for use in the vicinity of pedestrians.

A Razor kick scooter begins at about $40 and so is an economical method for you to make certain that your youngster gets regular exercise, gets out from behind his computer, gets some fresh air and sunlight and learns about good manners while having fun being mobile. Besides all these advantages, a Razor kick scooter will give your child warm reminiscences to look back on for the rest of his or her life.

How To Deal With The Symptoms Of Stress

We are all under stress the majority of the time and a lot of people like to think that they understand stress and can use it to get a piece of work done to the best of their capacity, but do you really know what the symptoms of stress are and what it can do to your body? When we are piling the stress onto ourselves, we merely assume that our bodies will adapt and get on with it, but is that actually the case?

The fact is that we all have our own point at which stress is reasonable. This is because stress can be emotional, physical and mental and if you exceed your capacity for any length of time in any of these areas, you can cause short-term or even longer term damage, which could need professional medical help.

If you do not take steps to regain your equilibrium, you will soon find that the apposite role in your life will suffer: that is, your relationships will fail, your physical health will crumble or your ability to do your job in the correct manner will vanish.

The physical manifestations of stress are aches and pains, including headaches, general fatigue and lethargy. Unchecked, these symptoms can lead to migraine, muscle tension and stiffness.

These major changes to how your body operates can then result in other issues such as diarrhea or constipation, nausea and dizziness. These symptoms of stress, in turn, can lead to sleepless nights or insomnia.

When it gets this bad, individuals normally turn to medication, but medication can merely give temporary relief such as sleeping tablets. This can lead to dependence.

If the sufferer already has a weak heart, this combination of indications of stress can lead to chest pains, palpitations and erratic heart beat, which in turn can be precursors of heart disease. Please note that this chain of activities is not guaranteed.

People are different and some doctors are better than others, but stress and heart disease have been shown to be connected.

Symptoms of stress can also show themselves in behavioural problems. These indications of stress frequently begin with insomnia or merely difficulty getting to sleep and waking up unrefreshed. However, feeling constantly dog-tired has a knock-on effect on our emotions – we tend to become more emotional, but often in a negative way. Often this means over-reacting, like snapping at someone who has asked a perfectly sensible question.

This sort of response can lead to the sufferer shunning society. Self-pity, isolation, loss of job and depression can soon follow.

So, you have to learn how to get off that slippery slope, the downward coil of everyday stress. The place to begin is the mind. You have to learn how to recognize when ‘things are getting on top of you’ and learn how to unwind.

There are a number of successful techniques including meditation, breathing exercises, aromatherapy and playing soothing music in order to bring about a state of relaxation in your mind.

When you are learning to take the symptoms of stress head-on with your mind, take some time to pamper your body too. There are also numerous ways of doing this, but popular methods are taking a sauna or having a massage or pedicure, facial or manicure. Having your hair done.

Physical exercise is a good reliever of stress too and it does not have to be arduous. A thirty minute walk, twice a day is sufficient for most people, but you may grow to like it and then it is the more the better.

Finally, you could take a good look at your diet. You do not have to go overboard, but do you drink too much coke, coffee or tea? Do you consume a lot of rubbish? Are you eating enough fruit?

How To Cease Smoking Cigarettes

Smoking cigarettes used to be a lot more widespread than it is today. Now most smokers are searching for methods of quitting smoking. This is because smokers and the general public in general are more conscious of the risks of smoking cigarettes nowadays.

Simply look at films made in the Sixties and before, everybody is smoking. It proves how de rigeur smoking was compared with today. This would not be allowed now as you cannot smoke in public places, on public transport, in restaurants or in bars any more in most Western countries and elsewhere too.

The problem with smoking is that not just the smoker suffers, so does everyone in the environs of the smoker. This is called passive smoking and it has an impact on those working or living with smokers – a barmaid or a spouse for instance. So, all these people are endangering their health so that tobacco companies may become richer.

No matter how long someone has been smoking, it is possible to give up the habit. Anyone who has stopped smoking will tell you that quitting smoking cigarettes is all to do with the mind. You actually have to desire to quit smoking or you will not do it successfully.

People have different methods of ceasing smoking cigarettes. Some say that nicotine patches or nicotine gum helps, because you can wean yourself off nicotine gradually without having to inhale the toxic smoke of cigarettes.

Nicotine is highly addictive and most of the chemical withdrawal symptoms have to do with the lack of nicotine in the body.

Most individuals find that the single most effective fashion of ceasing smoking cigarettes is to give up smoking dead – in one go. It is very difficult to cut down or to swap to a weaker brand. You are still inhaling toxic smoke and it is still no help to you or anyone around you.

Cutting down or changing brands does not work, because you will still smoke other smokers’ cigarettes and you will still be in a smokers’ environment. You will also find yourself smoking tomorrow’s five cigarettes today, swearing not to smoke any the next day. That never works. You have to give up smoking dead.

There are several situations that can provide the motivation to stop smoking cigarettes. Illness is mostly high on the list. A few years ago two friends of mine who smoked heavily stopped smoking cigarettes within weeks of every other.

One was in his sixties and had smoked for almost sixty years: he was advised that his lungs were beginning to go, but that if he stopped smoking, the shock might kill him. He quit smoking one morning and is still alive, but what a dilemma!

The other was in his fifties and drove a great amount as a travelling salesman. The medical doctor told him that he would almost certainly have to have a leg removed next year, if he did not give up smoking and that the other may go a year or so after that. He stopped smoking instantly and still has both legs.

So it seems that the secret to quitting smoking cigarettes successfully is to find your motivation (do you want to live long enough to see the grandkids get married?) and keep that image in front of you at all times.

Take nicotine substitutes if you have to and keep away from environments where some people smoke more, like taverns. Join a sports club instead, something like tennis, table tennis, sailing or even chess.

Decorating Your Bathroom And Kitchen

For the person who seems to have it all or for the person who is bored with their lifestyle, there are a few things that you can do to jazz-up your life. Perhaps the best way though is to start redecorating your house. Some of the first places you should look at redecorating are your bathroom and kitchen.

These are often the most overlooked and most used rooms in the entire house. Think about it, have you redecorated at least even one of these rooms within the past five years? The answer is probably going to be no. In which case think back to the last time you even looked closely at your bathroom or kitchen other than to clean them.

More than likely, if you noticed anything at all, you put the idea off until a future date when you could devote more time to decorating your bathroom or kitchen, although at that time, the place certainly didn’t look as old as it does now, after all, the years soon mount up and even though you’ve been keeping it rigorously clean you can’t prevent the slow march of time.

It is probably true that if you take a closer look now, you’d find that the curtains are looking a bit drab and ragged around the edges, as are the bathroom rugs. And do not even look at the soap dish. It is quite true that they don’t make them like they used to and for a very good reason too!

So, you should do yourself a favour and throw out all that unused junk in the bathroom and get yourself some new accessories – you will be surprised at what lovely things you can find nowadays. Besides, you’ve probably been eyeing that beautiful new bathroom set you noticed in the mall for some time, so at the very least now you will have a good reason to go out and splash out on yourself.

And while you’re at it, you might as well buy that nice new salt and pepper set you saw for the kitchen and a few rugs that can be used in either room. Ideally, they should be resistant to such commonplace occurrences like water spillage, soap, oil grease, fat and all the other things that somehow seem to become ground into your carpets.

However, if you’re looking for some new ideas on decorating your bathroom or your kitchen, there are a number of sources you can get your inspiration from. The best one I’ve found so far are the catalogues, which you can read to your heart’s content.

With all these options, you can even substitute something that is less expensive for the items that you see in the catalogues. This then, is the best way to get your decorating projects started and to keep yourself busy for some time to come and to make your long suffering bathroom and kitchen areas spotlessly new and glitzy.

There are so many different sorts of massage that it can get quite difficult to choose which sort would be best for you. Nearly every country or area in the world has its own local style of massage therapy. However there are basically two broad types of massage and these are therapeutic and relaxation massage therapy styles.

Therapeutic massage is meant to heal problems with muscles, bones and joints, like, say, a bad back and relaxation massage therapy is intended to relax a person after a stressful day, so it soothes the knots aways from the muscles and the stress from the mind. There is a certain degree of overlap between these styles though.

These two styles can be characterized by two different techniques from two different parts of the world. Swedish massage is a relaxation technique from the West and Ayurvedic massage is therapeutic and originated in the East.

Swedish massage, also known as classic massage, is the standard oil massage used in America and Europe. It is exemplified by long, gentle, flowing strokes in the direction of blood flow, which are meant to encourage circulation and relax muscles.

There are four or five fundamental techniques to Swedish massage:

1] Effleurage – these are the extended strokes typical of Swedish massage. They are carried out with the whole hand or a pad for the length of the back, the length of the arm or leg.

2] Petrissage – this involves lifting the muscles away from their usual siting and squeezing them so that the massage goes deeper in order to further enhance circulation and remove toxic build-ups.

3] Friction – this is as hard as it gets; the fingertips are used vigorously in deep circular movements on bony sections and joints to enhance flexibility in joints and muscles.

4] Tapotement – this is the slapping, chopping and tapping that you find in Swedish massage. It may be conducted with a fist, the heel of the hand or the edge of the hand like a karate chop. These short, sharp, rapid taps are meant to alleviate tension and cramp.

5] Vibration – the hand or hands are put on, say, the lower back, and the masseur vibrates his hands. It is said to be helpful for those with certain problems like backache.

The Ayurvedic massage method is to be seen in Shiatsu, Thai massage, Muslim massages, Indian massages and a number of others. Ayurvedic massage incorporates the Eastern approach of harmony and attempts to reinstate the balance of harmony between the mind and the body.

Some of these forms of massage use oil but Shiatsu and Thai do not. They all make use of pressure points by means of acupressure. Chinese types use meridians, the Thai kind uses Sen, which are not the same.

Ayurvedic massage applies a form of reflexology or foot massage on the feet and yoga postures on the rest of the body. This massage requires a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology in order to manipulate the limbs, joints and muscles.

Besides this specialized information, Ayurvedic massage makes use of all the methods used in Swedish massage as well. It is the basis of the massage techniques used in hospitals and physiotherapy.

Diastolic And Systolic Blood Pressure Levels

The actual order that the numbers in a blood pressure reading are given is systolic over diastolic. The systolic pressure is higher, because it is the reading taken when the heart actually pumps or beats and the diastolic pressure is lower because it is taken when the heart sucks in a new volume of blood to pump around.

There are approximate figures that doctors quote as ‘standard’, but there is no clear, authoritative agreement what these numbers are. In the west, most authorities will say that any reading under 120/80 is all right. However, there are many medical professionals who will say that 140/80 does not need treatment, other than to lose a couple of pounds, if you are over weight.

This makes it very difficult for the unqualified person to judge for him or herself, whether his or her blood pressure is acceptable or not. Blood pressure monitors are very comforting, very accurate but not expensive these days, but how can you interpret the data they give you, if not every medical expert has the same opinion?

Perhaps the only way to make the most sense of this data is to go along to your general practitioner with your blood pressure monitor and discuss its results with your doctor. Your doctor can use his or her sophisticated equipment and check it with yours then your doctor can give you a few figures that can be expected for someone like you.

I say this because there are a number of things that can have an effect on blood pressure. In fact, actual blood pressure varies with each beat of the heart, so your blood pressure can be different every time you take it, which is why a BP monitor takes the average (or the maximum) during, say, a two minute period.

Factors that can (and frequently do) influence blood pressure are:

The ‘White Coat Effect’: some individuals’ BP soars by as much as 25-50 points if they go into a doctor’s surgery. This could be anxiety or it could be fear of doctors, and it is a documented problem.

Mood: fear, anger, depression and anxiety can unsettle your blood pressure.

Age: your age has a sway on your BP.

Weather: the temperature and the humidity affects BP

Stress: stress, restlessness, lack of sleep and tiredness can affect the levels of your blood pressure.

Diet: which foodstuffs and beverages you have recently consumed have an impact as do whether you are constipated or merely ‘full’.

Smoking: smoking and drinking alcohol affect blood pressure.

Exercise: your physical condition, your metabolism and the amount of exercise you take are also factors.

Time of the Day: for all the above reasons and more, the time of the day that you take the reading has an impact, which is why it is a good thing to have your own blood pressure monitor at home. Then you can measure your BP at definite times of the day and compare the results with the hoped for levels of diastolic and systolic blood pressure given you by your GP.

Basic Golfing Tips For Beginners: 4

We have all the seen the bewilderingly long and yet accurate drives of Tiger Woods. When he hits the ball, it flies through the air only to land in the bang middle of the fairway, 300 odd metres away.

It is difficult not to let jealousy rise in us as we wonder if we could ever dare to hope to drive like that. Luckily, long drives are not the crux of the game of golf.

So, we get to the ‘short game’ because without decent short game skills, all those great long drives are not worth a candle.

The short game consists of those shots that get you onto the green from about one hundred feet out, be it from the fairway, a bunker, the rough or a drop zone and includes chips, sand shots and pitches.

It is in this middle stage of the game of golf that you get to use the higher numbered clubs, your pitching iron and sand wedge or lob wedge.

Most golf courses have practice areas as well as a driving range. You should spend some time working on hitting the ball onto the green from different distances. Aim for a ten-foot circle in the center of the green at first. Experiment using your wedges, but what works for someone else, might not work for you and your particular swing.

After you get accustomed to performing this drill consistently, it’s time to start practising in a sand trap. Knowing how to get the ball out of a trap will cut your score dramatically.

Plant your feet firmly into the sand with your left foot turned toward the hole. Imagine a 4-inch circle around the ball and try to hit the edge of the circle that is furthest away from the ball.

Kick up lots of sand with the ball and swing completely through as normal. Don’t slow down the swing at all when or after you hit the ball. It should jump up onto the green and stop almost dead. This doesn’t work very well though unless the sand is soft and dry. On hard, compacted surfaces, you might need to avoid actually hitting the sand all together.

As in all aspects of golf, only practice will help you to improve.

Are you new to golf? We have some great our website at tips for the beginner golfer on our website at Golfing Tips for Beginners. This article, Basic Golfing Tips For Beginners: 4 is available for free reprint.

Acne Skin Problems

Acne is one of the commonest skin problems afflicting mankind and it it can be present in all people irrespective of age, caste, colour or gender. Acne is a tremendously embarrassing and burdensome problem, because it is so obvious and unsightly. Acne can be defined as red eruptions on the skin, often filled with a white substance, causing itchiness and pain. The commonest form of acne is called acne vulgaris or puberty spots.

Acne vulgaris can be defined as follows: … an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland) . Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots or zits – [source: Wikipedia]. It is an upsetting problem that we do not seem to have much control over. However, there are different manners in which to cure acne: you can try medication from a skin specialist or you can try home or natural remedies.

Home treatments are less time consuming, less expensive and have no side effects. However, they do take a little more patience, because a few routines have to be followed rigorously in order to get rid of the problem for good. A natural remedy for acne is equally efficacious as any medication. Here are a few natural cures to cure your acne. To start with, your daily consumption of water should be a minimum of eight to ten glasses. This helps you to detoxify your system and kill the harmful bacteria that cause acne.

An over-balance of oily food also leads to acne, so fried, oily and spicy food should be religiously avoided. A near complete avoidance of fried and fatty food will have a notable, beneficial effect on any acne outbreak. Furthermore, if you eat more chromium and zinc in your diet, it will help to cure acne. There needs to be the correct balance of diet and hygiene.

A mixture of grated nutmeg with fresh milk regularly applied on the afflicted area also helps to eradicate acne. Cinnamon powder and honey is just as efficacious in treating. The cooled liquid from boiled Neem leaves applied to acne acts as a disinfectant. [The Neem Tree is a tall, usually evergreen East Indian tree (Azadirachta indica) widely cultivated in tropical Asia for its timber, resin, bitter bark, and aromatic seed oil, which is used medicinally and as an insecticide (source: 'Free Online Dictionary')].

The infected area must be cleansed with special anti-acne soap a minimum of three or four times a day. Make-up must be religiously avoided when afflicted by acne. Make-up makes acne worse. Acne should never be squeezed as it may cause infection or / and make it worse. Squeezing your acne could also lead to permanent scars on your skin, which results in your skin looking unsightly. Avoid letting your hair touch the acne-infected area either.

Your hair ought to be kept tied back to avoid touching the acne. Pillow covers should be washed on a daily basis to prevent the bacteria spreading. The regular washing of your skin should be observed to keep it free from germs. Besides this, a healthy lifestyle ought to followed with a balanced diet, exercise and sleep. Remember, if you take proper care of yourself, illnesses will have less chance of affecting you, especially such a small thing as acne!

Giving Up Smoking For Ever Using Acupuncture

Acupuncture is still controversial and it has been around for thousands of years. Anyway, people who believe in acupuncture say that it is fantastic for the dispelling of addictions such as nicotine addiction.

However, it should be borne in mind that numerous doctors do not believe in this alternative form of medicine saying that it is no better than sticking pins in the skin at random.

The fact of the matter is that if acupuncture helps you then there is nothing wrong with it and it is certainly better than smoking. If you have tried several times to stop smoking and nicotine patches and gums have not worked for you, then it might be worth trying acupuncture, which is not necessarily that costly anyway.

One of the good facts concerning acupuncture is that no one is allergic to acupuncture so it is perfectly safe if you want to give it a go. Obviously, you will have to go to a respectable acupuncturist so that you can be certain that the needles have been sterilized.

Adherents of acupuncture have faith in that inserting pins or needles into the meridians of the body will affect the emotions, the internal organs and other aspects of the body. Therefore, they say, an acupuncturist can change your desire to do something with a few sessions of acupuncture. Smoking or nicotine dependence is one of the addictions that it is said to be able to cure.

Acupuncture to cure nicotine addiction is normally carried out on the ear lobes or / and the hands. The insertion of the needles is painless and said to be very soothing. It is also said to alleviate the longing to smoke again and alleviate withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, ‘hangover’, nervousness, concern, depression and queasiness.

One of the biggest worries is that nicotine activates excitement zones in the brain and as the nicotine wears off so does the pleasure resulting in the withdrawal symptoms. This process happens fairly quickly, which is why smokers tend to smoke at least once an hour.

Some acupuncturists claim a 70% success incidence for curing individuals of smoking after a few sessions of two to three weeks. This is quite high and since acupuncture is not that expensive you will quickly recover your costs.

Some acupuncturists make use of herbs and other aids to back up their acupuncture. They might even provide some counselling on how best to avoid getting themselves into predicaments where one is likely to begin smoking again.

This is all helpful. It frequently takes a several-pronged attack to kick the smoking habit and as long as you do quit, then it does not really not matter how.

There are several slight variations of the actual techniques of acupuncture, so you may not experience exactly what you read, but most anti-smoking sessions will last 30 minutes, during which time, filiform needles will become inserted into the skin in the ear, hands and wrists, which does not hurt at all. The therapist may also pass a low electrical current through the needles for extra stimulation.
