Most individuals know the Net as somewhere you may do some investigation, buy and sell things, play some games and stay in touch. This is how most people interact with the Net and there is nothing wrong with that. However, with a couple of adaptations to practice, you could use the Net to sell yourself rather than goods or services.

I do not mean the slave trade here, I mean using the Internet to make yourself well known or even famous. This would be helpful, if you were a performing artiste, a writer or a fighter, say a mixed martial artist. The trick is to learn how to build a buzz about yourself and I do not mean with flies and horrible smells.

The first thing to do is get a catchy, relevant name. This might not be appropriate for a writer unless he wants to write under a pseudonym. Let us call our mixed martial artist Johnny Two Hammers. Then you need a logo. Let us use two crossed mallets like a give way sign.

Now start building your website with lots of photos of yourself in fighting poses (all with an alt description), a biography, a list of up-coming fights and a list of results. Make sure that the logo is on each page and create a special image file of it known as fav.icon. Upload fav.icon to the root folder of all your websites. This ensures that all your web pages are distinct when they are tabbed.

Next, take your fav.icon (favourite icon) and make a jpeg image of it and name it something like my_avatar.jpeg. Join as many social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter et cetera as you are able. Join, say, twenty every day for a couple of weeks.

The top social media sites change quite frequently, but you can do a search on them as well and you will be shown a list of hundreds of the current hotties.

When you join each social media site, fill out your profile and upload your avatar. Keep track of which ones you have joined and strive to use the same log in details for all of them. All the best SM sites will cross-post your message to other SM sites. Make certain you make a note of which are the most popular and join them.

These SM sites will allow you to enter an email address and at least one web site URL. Do it, but you might like to strive to get devious by entering some of your SM home pages into some of the SM sites. The idea being that SM1 promotes SM2, that promotes SM3 that promotes your website.

With a little organization, you can make this quite magical, so that one post to say, Plurk, triggers off dozens or even hundreds of posts. Make a point of sending twelve messages a day. Endeavour to create a group of followers by giving them details that they cannot find out anywhere else (for a few days). Make your followers feel ‘in the know’.

If you keep at this friendship-ring building, you will soon have thousands of people recognizing your name and logo, but it has to be genuine – you have to stick with it and provide real insider knowledge.

The New Orleans Saints used a 14 point fourth quarter to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on Sunday to win their first Superbowl in franchise history. Drew Brees broke open a tight game midway through the final quarter with his touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey, and Tracy Porter scored on a 74 yard interception return as the Colts were driving on the next series to secure the victory. Brees was named Superbowl MVP on the basis of his 288 yard, 2 touchdown, 0 interception performance.

After enthusiasts had come in early on the favored Colts, a good deal of buyback on the Saints had pushed the line to -4′ and the New Orleans backers were enriched by their team’s outright victory. The underdog has now covered three straight Superbowls and taken the money in five of the last seven games. The 48 points scored stayed well under the posted total of 57, which was the highest over/under number in Superbowl history.

In his postgame interview, Brees gave much of the credit to the city of New Orleans:

“We play for so much more than ourselves. We played for our city. We played for the entire Gulf Coast region. We played for the entire Who Dat nation that has been behind us every step of the way. It means everything. We’re here because of their strength and everything they fought through here the last few years. They’ve given us so much support, so we owe it all to our fans.”

“Just to think of the road we’ve all traveled, the adversity we’ve all faced. It’s unbelievable. I mean, are you kidding me? Four years ago, whoever thought this would be happening? Eighty-five percent of the city was under water. Most people left not knowing if New Orleans would ever come back, or if the organization would ever come back. We just all looked at one another and said, ‘We’re going to rebuild together. We are going to lean on each other.’ That’s what we’ve done the last four years and this is the culmination in all that belief.”

Never known for his elocution, Peyton Manning had little to say after the game particularly about the decisive interception return:

“Made a great play. Made a great play. Corner made a heck of a play. Certainly disappointing, very disappointing. Disappointing.”

Saints’ coach Sean Payton made a bold call at the beginning of the second half when he called for an onside kick. New Orleans recovered and linebacker Jonathan Casalis suggested it was a game changing play:

“We were really excited when he made the call. That changed everything.”

Payton explained the diva-like decision:

“We’re going to be aggressive. We’d seen the onside kick all week and guys executed it well. It turned out to be a big change of possession.”

The city of New Orleans will celebrate their team’s victory with a parade. With Mardi Gras celebrations already scheduled to begin shortly thereafter, it could be quite some time before New Orleans returns to business as usual. New Orleans is usually as fabulous as flamboyant skater Johnny Weir emerging out of a gold Faberge egg, but will be even more so now.

The South Carolina Gamecocks offense didn’t look particularly sharp in their season opening contest at North Carolina State. Of course with the way their defense was playing, they didn’t have to be. Brian Maddox scored on a one yard run in the first quarter for the only touchdown of the game as the Gamecock defense completely shut down the Wolfpack offense en route to a 7-3 South Carolina victory. The win gave the Gamecocks their second straight season opening victory over North Carolina State–South Carolina won 34-0 in Columbia to start the 2008 football season.

College football betting enthusiasts who backed South Carolina cashed their tickets as the Gamecocks won outright as +5 road underdogs.

The Gamecock defense held NC State to 11 first downs and just 133 yards of total offense. Nothing worked for the Wolfpack who were equally as inept running the football (59 yards) as they were passing (74 yards). After the game, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier gave credit for the victory to the effort of his defense:

Our defensive guys played their hearts out. Played good, solid football.

Spurrier has only lost once in his last twenty opening games (19-1). It marked the first time a South Carolina team had won a game while scoring less than 10 points since a 7-3 win over Memphis State in 1971.

North Carolina State head coach Tom OBrian pointed to the teams poor pass protection as the biggest liability, which allowed the Gamecocks to sack Wolfpack QB Russell Wilson 6 times and held him to -17 yards rushing:

We couldnt get anything going. And with our pass protection, we had Russell Wilson running around too much.

South Carolinas Stephen Garcia didnt put up stellar numbers himself, passing for 148 yards on 13 of 22 with an interception. Still, he picked up important first downs at the right time which enabled the Gamecocks to preserve the victory. Despite their offensive woes, the Wolfpack had a chance to go ahead late but a final drive stalled at the South Carolina 32 yardline.

Next up for South Carolina is a big game at Athens, GA against their hated SEC rivals the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, September 12th. Theyll have an easier assignment the following week as they open their home schedule against Florida Atlantic at Williams-Brice Stadium. North Carolina State will have a good chance at getting on the winning track next weekend as they host FCS/1-AA Murray State.

Ever since he burst onto the MMA scene Joe Lauzon has been working to earn respect. Hes lost only once since then–to top contender Kenny Florian in a bout that earned fight of the night honors–but for some reason hes had trouble being taken seriously as a top contender in the UFCs lightweight division. In the main event at the UFC Ultimate Fight Night in Tampa, Lauzon withstood a game challenge from late replacement Jeremy Stephens to earn a 2nd round submission victory.

Lauzon was in control of the fight throughout, but Stephens gave a good account of himself despite his opponents obvious technical superiority on the ground. Stephens wasn’t able to match up with Lauzon’s ever improving BJJ skills, but he used good old fashioned tenacity and some powerful punching to keep the fight competitive throughout. Lauzon appeared to be on the verge of ending the fight midway through the second with a ground and pound assault that he attempted to transition into a rear naked choke. Stephens fought back with a vengeance despite his disadvantageous position and opened a nasty cut on Lauzon’s forehead with an elbow strike.

Lauzon gained a new sense of urgency not wanting to lose on a stoppage due to the cut. He regained control on the ground and from full mount twisted into a nasty arm bar. Stephens tried to extricate himself, but was eventually forced to tap giving the bloody Lauzon a hard fought triumph.

The semifinal matchup featured another impressive effort from Cain Velasquez, who many have pegged as the heavyweight superstar of the future. Velasquez is a formidable physical presence at 6’2″ 241 pounds, and has very well developed technical skills for a fighter with only five bouts under his belt. He trains with the American Kickboxing Academy, and has a reputation as the hardest worker and most dominant sparring partner in a gym who includes among its membership superstars such as Bobby Southworth, Cung Le and Josh Thompson.

Velasquez was never really threatened in the fight, but he did have difficulty finishing off tough UFC newcomer Dennis Stojnic. Stojnic displayed impressive toughness and a chin of granite as he became the first of Velasquez’s opponents to make it into the second round.

In the second round, Velasquez quickly caught his opponent and sent him to the canvas with a nice combination which he followed up with another ground and pound attack. Stojnic again kept trying to defend himself despite a hellacious beating, though the referee finally jumped in and stopped the contest awarding Velasquez the TKO verdict. While Velasquez continues to show all of the qualities of a future top heavyweight, he needs to improve his stopping power and ability to finish a fight.

On the undercard, Josh The Dentist Neer earned a tapout victory over the sports best known (and perhaps only) vegan, Mac Danzig. Danzig looked decent in the first round as he counterpuched Neer’s wild looping punches to good advantage, but in the second he looked listless and quickly fell victim to a nasty triangle choke.

In the opening bout of the evening, up-and-coming welterweight Anthony Rumble Johnson used his significant height and reach advantage to dispatch tough Luigi Fioravanti. After the fight he was very critical of himself in his postfight interview calling his performance sloppy.

The live crowd in Tampa gave a very poor account of themselves, at times booing fighters mercilessly for no apparent reason whatsoever. This was in addition to the usual booing when the fight goes to the ground typical of uneducated MMA fan–they often turned on fighters midbout for no discernible reason. Their behavior reached a nadir in Cain Velasquez’s post fight interview, where he was booed mercilessly despite an impressive victory and informing Joe Rogan that he was about to become a father for the first time.

How To Begin Healing From A Running Injury

The psychological and mental side of recovering from a running injury is often as painful as the bodily piece. For many athletes, running is really a large portion of their lifestyles and when you’re injured chances are you’ll go through quite a genuine grieving process.

Consequently before you move into the bodily healing you will need to deal with the fact that you’re injured and cope with the emotive notion that you could have to terminate jogging for a little bit. Listed below you will find a few superb means of recuperating from an injury and easing into jogging.

Right after you recognize the injury you should use ice. Ice generally is a runner’s best friend. To make an ice bag you need to use any Ziploc bag filled with crushed ice or you may just make use of a bag of frozen peas. For ice to be an effective treatment it needs to be applied right after your work out more than one times through the day.

To recover from an injury you’ll require a lot of rest. Taper back or remove your running on whe whole until eventually your pain is gone, and then wait yet another full week. Almost all injuries may relapse and in many cases exasperate without having adequate rest time.

Many injuries may well need and benefit from some form of compression. An easy ACE bandage wrapped surrounding the damaged area will work to stabilize the region. Compression may acceleration healing by aiding lymphatic circulation and blood flow.

A lot of joggers find the use of a foam roller handy. These kinds of devices can replicate massage therapy and help relieve rigid muscles fibers and get rid of lactic acid build up. When using one start out slowly. Just like a massage they themselves could make you tender.

Finally, come back slowly. Don’t increase more than TWELVE to TWENTY % to your runs from week to week. Too much, too quickly will probably land you back again to the injured list. You should stretch a great deal and also take your healing gradually.

Beginning runners face the same injury threats as advanced runners. Running is one of the most injury prone sports on the planet; but it doesn’t have to be. Practicing a few good running practices can help keep runners on the road for many years to come.

Years ago I queued up at the ticket booth thinking I could get cheap wicked tickets for a big matchup NFL game. The most annoying thing about that foray was tickets were already sold out even before I reached the ticket booth. Signing up for the waiting list would just be plain silly. Considering the number of people who are already on the list and the slow turnover, one could already surmise that it would be a long time before they even reach your spot on the list.

Thanks to the Internet though, I found a way to get cheap, wicked tickets to my favorite NFL team’s home game. I was a bit hesitant at first because it was my first time to buy from an online ticket broker, but for the love of the game I proceeded just the same. Fortunately, my tenacity paid off. I was giddy like a school girl when I received my tickets a couple of days later.

Ticket brokers are great sources for tickets which otherwise have been sold out. While they may not be sold at face value, they are not exactly exorbitant especially if you know where to look. The advantage of online shopping is that there are websites which carry a price comparison service. Keeping tabs on those who sell tickets near nominal value can help immensely.

There are other sources where you could get cheap, wicked tickets to NFL games. One is through fan-to-fan exchange sites. Not wanting to miss out on games, some fans buy weeks ahead only to find out later on that the team they are rooting for aren’t doing so well. These disenchanted fans sell their tickets to earn money otherwise lost if they held on to it. To discourage this activity, NFL has tied up with Ticketmaster and made its official ticket exchange partner. Still, fans are resourceful and these unofficial exchange sites continue to be prolific online.

A good way to get cheap, wicked tickets is to know the best time to buy. Prices rarely stay the same for the entire NFL season, or for a particular game because several factors. For matchups that don’t receive as much media fanfare, ticket prices tend to dip a few days before the game because resellers would rather have some profit than none at all.

To someone who’s tenacious and mindful of price trends, getting cheap NFL tickets is not at all impossible.

In a few weeks, NFL tickets will be increasingly harder to come by. Knowing when and where to buy can help you get cheap wicked tickets to the big matches. More tried and tested strategies can be found here, cheap wicked tickets.

Archery Targets For Indoors And Out

Archery is about hitting a target with an arrow shot from a bow. The bow can either be an straight bow or a crossbow, although most people think of upright bows when they hear the word ‘archery’. Within the sport or hobby of target archery, there are two kinds: target archery and field archery. The champion is the archer with the highest combined score of his arrows that struck the target.

Target archery necessitates shooting arrows, usually six, from a variety of distances usually 90, 70, 50 and 30 metres. The archers stand in a line before their targets starting at 90 metres and shoot an arrow on the order of whoever is in charge.

Then they all advance to the 70 metre mark and shoot again on the order and so on. After the six arrows have been shot, the archers proceed to their targets and tally up up their scores.

Field archery involves walking around a course where targets are placed at a variety of distances. The targets can be the traditional round ones or they may be models of wild animals like rabbits, deer or mountain lions.

Traditional targets are made from straw. Handfuls of straw are bound with string and crafted into a kind of rope. This rope is then wound around and around itself until a target of the right size has been crafted. The rope is held in situ either by pinning it or tying it. A canvas or paper target is then pinned to the front of it.

Target archery can be practiced outdoors or indoors and the target sizes are different to match the various distances. An outdoor archery target can be either 122 centimetres or 80 centimetres in diameter. The centre of this target is 24.4 centimetres in diameter and there are four concentric circles around it. The indoor target is 80 centimetres in diameter. The centre of this size target is 16 centimetres and also has four concentric rings around it.

Each ring is about eight centimetres wide on the smaller target. The targets are coloured gold in the centre, then red, blue, black and white. At the centre of the gold is what many archers call the ‘pinhole’.

It is a small cross of about two millimetres in width. The target should then be placed on an easel or stand with a tilt of about 15 degrees. The pinhole should be 130 centimetres off the ground (plus or minus five centimetres).

If there is more than one bowman, the pinholes should all be at the same height off the ground and the targets should be clearly numbered. The shooting line should be clearly marked and an archer’s shooting spot should be clear too. Five yards behind the archer, there should be another line, behind which non-competitors may watch.

The danger zone between the archers and the targets should be roped off to prevent spectators wandering into the line of fire. Knowing that the spectators are kept well back helps the archers to concentrate on their accuracy.

What Type Of Cars Are NASCAR Cars?

Stock car racing was really born out of the desire of owners of modified stock (meaning: ‘off the sales lot’) cars to show off their vehicles, handimanship and driving expertise. The desire to ‘soup up’ these stock cars came from the wish to escape the law enforcement agencies pursuing them when they were running moonshine or said another way, bootlegging.

For the period of Prohibition, a lot of moonshine whiskey was being made in remote areas of the Appalachians and in particular the Allegheny Mountains, from where it was transported by private carriers in their own stock cars often to the southern states. Many of these drivers tuned up their vehicles in order to have more chance of escape.

When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, this bootlegging continued in order to avoid paying revenue, but it gradually died out. However, the fire had already been lit and the drivers of these cars liked to race them in their spare time for pride and reward, especially in the southern states and especially in North Carolina, where most of the stock car teams are still situated.

NASCAR was established by Bill French in 1947 when he crafted the first set of uniform rules and a championship points system so that an overall winner of all the season’s races could be worked out.

However, the conditions in the early days were pretty crude. The cars were often second-hand and worn and the track was just earth and dust. Under these conditions the cars quickly fell apart, so NASCAR allowed competing cars to be customized or strengthened. Safety aspects for the drivers were also introduced. Nowadays, the NASCAR instruction manual clearly defines all the modifications that are allowed on contending cars.

These days it is a misnomer to call NASCAR cars ‘stock cars’; they are anything other than stock cars. NASCAR cars are hand made. The frames are poles apart from stock cars in that they are manufactured from tubes for strength; the tin is sheet steel and the engine blocks begin as just that – a bare block. What the engineers do with it after that is a tightly guarded secret.

The safety of the driver is also taken very seriously. The driver is shielded from harm by a heavy roll cage. Strong round and square tubes make up the car’s framework, while thinner tubing is employed at the front and back ends to soak up the impact of crashes by crushing gradually. These are called clips and the front clip will also allow the engine to fall away under the car, rather than be forced straight back into the driver.

The bodies of NASCAR cars are not easy to make, often taking ten days to finish. However, NASCAR rules encompass the general body shape and they provide thirty templates to make constructing a NASCAR car a little easier.

But it does not stop there. There are different regulations and templates for different sorts of races on different tracks, because the cars that compete on superspeedways are not the same as those used for short tracks or endurance races.
